If you could give yourself a different life, would you?
Noelle Parker hasn’t returned to her hometown in 30 years. Now her mother is dying, and Noelle needs an escape from the mess her life has become. Once she’s home, she can no longer make herself forget what happened her senior year of high school. She, her twin brother Nick and their friends Ian and Jessica traveled 30 years into the future, using Nick’s car and the bridge across the Missouri River. Their adventure led to Nick and Jessica’s deaths.
Noelle is now at the other end of that bridge to the future, and she’s recently inherited Nick’s old car. She and Ian decide to return to 1993 to save Nick and Jessica. When Noelle meets her younger self, she realizes she needs saving as much as the others do. Unfortunately, convincing an angry teenager her life is worth living is even harder than time travel.

Doorknobs and Pathways is the new anthology by the Washington Wordsmiths, published by Arc Creatives.
We started with a simple premise: each contributor would write based on the prompt, “Imagine a door that can take you anywhere.” From there, our stories branched in myriad directions, from fantasy and science fiction to slice-of-life and personal essays. You never know where these doors will lead!
The collection includes Melissa’s personal essay, “Every Book a Doorway.”

Ever since a traumatic brain injury, Kara Delaney has had the ability to hear and see ghosts. She’s spent years running away each time she encounters a haunted location, but her new job as a ragtime pianist at a World’s Fair theme park puts her face-to-face with the most intense haunting she’s encountered yet.
Kara wants to run, but her new friend Sylvia Becker, a claircognizant psychic, convinces her to stand her ground. Together, they take on angry spirits from the 1904 World’s Fair. Maybe they can form a partnership…but first, they have to survive.
